Thermal management and fire protection for batteries, EVs and data centers

Matwerkz engineers materials that remove heat, block it in a fault, and stop fire — for battery and energy-storage makers, EVs and data centers. An A*STAR spin-off and Grand Winner of SLINGSHOT 2024, with 20+ patents, co-developing with Sakata INX and advised by the former CEO of Dyson and Volvo Cars.

The dilemma we solve

Battery fires persist because engineers must choose between cooling the cells or protecting against fire. Our Thermorphous® platform does both — conducting heat in normal use, then transforming into a fire barrier above ~120 °C.

Conduct

Cool in normal use

Thermally conductive between cells to dissipate heat and protect efficiency and battery life.

Transform

Block fire in a fault

Above ~120 °C it foams into a fire-protection insulator — withstanding up to 1000-1500 °C.

Proven under fire

It only counts if it holds in a real fire

Third-party UL2596 EV battery enclosure test: without protection the lid blows off and fire spreads; with a Pyrowerkz-adhered lid the pack contains the fire and holds together.

Why Matwerkz

Grand Winner, SLINGSHOT 2024 — deep-tech from lab bench to production

A fire-protection barrier for batteries that beat over 5,500 start-ups from more than 150 countries.

Matwerkz Technologies is a Singapore advanced-materials company and an A*STAR spin-off (2020). In October 2024 it was named Grand Winner of SLINGSHOT 2024, Enterprise Singapore's global deep-tech competition. Our founder holds 20+ patents, and our Thermorphous FX25 grade was co-developed with Sakata INX Corporation. We are advised by leaders including James Rowan (former CEO of Dyson and Volvo Cars) and Marcus Neo of Omni-Plus System.

Because we run our own independent materials lab, the same team that formulates a material can characterise it, find why a competing part failed, and optimise how it is processed.

Tell us the problem — we will bring the material and the data

Share your thermal, fire or battery-safety challenge. We will recommend a grade, the lab work to validate it, and next steps. Datasheets (TDS) are available on request.
